Saturday Club Competitions 2024
Each competition is well supported with usually anywhere between 130 and 150 entrants. Competition entry sheets are displayed in the clubhouse foyer. Simply put your name down at a time that is available.
The Sandy Trophy is awarded to the member who has performed the most consistently over the competitive season. 20 Points are awarded to the winner, 19 for second, 18 for third place and so on down to 20th place who receives 1 point. When a medal event is staged for the main honors and the Stableford option is taken, 10 points will be awarded to the winner, down to 1 point for the 10th placed competitor.
The Don Eker Trophy is much the same as the Sandy Trophy but is awarded to the most consistent competitive golfer over the age of 65 years.
Starting in April, an eclectic competition runs through the season. This is a nett and gross competition where competing members play multiple competition rounds and the best score on each hole is used to calculate an overall score. The final score is made up of the lowest score achieved on each hole, regardless of which round it was played in.
An e-mail will be sent out to playing members a few weeks before each LGC competition notifying of when the entry sheet will be posted up on the board in the foyer.
On the competition day, go to the Pro Shop, take a numbered card from the counter and write your name on the sign-in sheet which has that number same number as the card and pay the entrance fee, which will be displayed on the entry sheet.
When signing in, there is a 'Birdie Twos' option where your £1 goes into a pot to be shared between all that card a gross two on their card. The more Twos you have in the round the more ££'s you win too.
On the competition day, please try and arrive on the tee box 10 minutes before your tee time, play well and PLEASE AVOID SLOW PLAY.
The format of the competition is subject to change, dependent on weather and golf course conditions.

All other Competitions and The L'Ancresse Open
Throughout the year, the season is made even busier out with Inter-club competitions, golf charity days and team matches. Please see the Club Diary website tab for a full list of the coming season's LGC eligible fixtures.
The Club’s most coveted competition is “The L’Ancresse Open”, sponsored by Appleby. It is regarded as one of the most prestigious event in the Island’s golfing calendar. The event attracts golfers from all Bailiwick clubs, Jersey and overseas.
The event is held over the first Friday and Saturday in August. Friday being the team golf event and Saturday the singles medal round. Handicap restrictions do apply.

Little Black Dog Charity
Why the name? Because they are the first to die. Black dogs are just not popular in Spain, a very sad fact. However, we rescue dogs of all colours and breeds.
