Annual Match with Walton Heath Artisans

The L'Ancresse Golf Club have been holding an annual match with Walton Heath Artisans. The first being an away match 1953 (Covid 19 has has not allowed us in 2020 & 2021).

Our affiliation is proudly displayed on our plaque behind the bar at our Club.

Walton Heath was founded in 1906. The first Captain was HRH the Prince of Wales and appointed in 1935. Their Captain became King Edward VIII the following year.

The first Professional, James Braid, won five Opens and stayed for some forty-five years. Winston Churchill played regularly at Walton Heath.

They staged the European Open in the seventies and eighties, the Ryder Cup in 1981, the British Ladies Amateur in 2000, the Senior Open in 2011 and The British Masters in 2018.

It is truly a fantastic course and something to look forward to visiting. We always welcome the visit of our fellow players to the L'Ancresse Links and Club and look forward to seeing our old friends every other year.
